Nebraska governor signs NRA-backed bill that grows US constitutional carry majority
Nebraska Governor Pillen said his bill signing fulfills a promise to citizens "to protect our constitutional rights" Nebraska state senators voted 33-14 to pass Legislative Bill 77 last Wednesday, sending it to Pillen for signature. Nebraska became the 27th state in the nation to enshrine in law the right of its residents to carry concealed firearms without a permit. "Signing this bill upholds the promise I made to voters to protect our constitutional rights and promote commonsense, conservative values," Governor Jim Pillen said in a comment to Fox News Digital on Tuesday. "I appreciate the hard work of those senators who supported this legislation, and particularly that of Senator. Brewer who led this charge and carried it through to the end." Pillen’s signature on Tuesday further solidifies the U.S. as a constitutional carry-majority nation, after Florida tipped the scales as the 26th state in the nation with permitless carry laws on the books earlier this month. The Nebraska law will take effect 90 days after the end of the legislative session, which is scheduled for June 9. Eligible Nebraska residents will then be allowed to carry concealed firearms on their person or in their car without paying the government for a permit. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/nebraska-governor-signs-nra-backed-bill-grows-us-constitutional-carry-majority

DeSantis signs permitless concealed carry bill TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 543 on Monday. This bill would effectively allow Floridians to carry concealed weapons without a government-issued permit. HB-543 will go into effect on July 1, 2023. According to the Governor’s office, this makes Florida the 26th state to enact constitutional carry legislation. The U.S. now has a majority of states with constitutional carry laws on the books after Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law Monday that eliminates the requirement for an individual to obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm. "The NRA applauds Florida for becoming the 26th state to adopt the vital Constitutional Carry legislation. This NRA-spearheaded initiative empowers Floridians to exercise their Second Amendment rights without undue bureaucratic barriers, affirming the fundamental right to self-defense," NRA-ILA Interim Executive Director Randy Kozuch exclusively told Fox News Digital in a statement. The Florida Senate voted 27 to 13 last week on the constitutional carry bill, sending the legislation to DeSantis, who signed it into law on Monday morning. There were already 25 states that had permitless or "constitutional carry" laws on the books, meaning Florida tipped the U.S. into becoming a constitutional carry-majority nation. The law allows eligible citizens 21 years of age and up to carry without asking the government for a permit and without paying a fee. The legislation does not change who is eligible to obtain a carry permit, and those who still wish to get a permit may do so under the law.
